The Bot’s First Day: Two Buys, a Bank Code, and +5 SEK

The first notification landed yesterday. A trade confirmation from the Bot.

I will not pretend that felt normal. After all the setup, a push message that something had actually filled was ridiculously satisfying. Then, after the U.S. close, it sent the daily summary: every transaction, total cost including brokerage and FX, marked against the close.

That was the point of the work. Honing the rules. Opening both a deposit account and an ISK with the Irish-based broker. Moving money in by bank transfer, then internally. Installing the gateway. Loading the rules. Testing until it stopped throwing errors. None of that is glamorous. Yesterday it finally stopped being a project and started being a session.

The only thing I had to do in person before the first buy was enter a code the broker emailed me. A lock they put on the account before live trading starts. After that: nothing. No error messages.

Day one: two buys. 2 shares of ConocoPhillips (COP) and 14 shares of Ares Capital (ARCC).

I left 100 SEK in the deposit account for fees, so the Bot had 9,900 SEK to work with. At the close the account was worth 9,905 SEK. That is +5 SEK after brokerage and FX. I am not calling that skill. I am calling it “the house did not catch fire on day one.”

One of the rules is a cap on how large any single trade can be as a percentage of the account. Early on, that means small tickets in kronor. If the Bot compounds instead of giving the money back, the same percentage becomes a larger order. The rules allow day trades, swing trades, or sit-and-hold.

Yesterday it made two fills, put just over 55 percent of the account to work, and left the rest in cash. That is allowed.

Today is the second session. Does it deploy what is left, sell what it already holds — or sit on the remaining cash and send a summary where nothing moved?

Would you count +5 SEK after costs as a win — or is that just the market being polite on day one? Tell me in the comments.

The setup and the cage are here:

The bot has its own cage. I kept the rest of the keys.
