Order ❤️ Chaos

August dividends landed faster than usual this time. No two-week stare-down with an “observation account.”

The first chart below is cleaned of extra dividends and includes the buys and sales we actually made. Against the forecast I locked in on 1 January 2026, the outcome comes in at −17.6%, as shown in the second chart.

A chunk of that gap is currency. I run the whole sheet at a fixed 9.50 SEK per USD. Marking every payout to the live rate would turn the chart into a daily argument with myself, and my OCD already has a full-time job. Today the market sits closer to 9.63, so the dollar paid us a little extra in kronor. I am not pretending FX is the only moving part — just the one I refuse to chase.

Being this pedantic is not a personality flex. It is a coping mechanism. Especially when I married a man whose personal operating system is CHAOS.

I would rather live with a slightly wrong fixed rate than a perfectly honest floating mess. The January forecast stays frozen for the same reason. If I keep rewriting the baseline every time we sell something, the chart stops being a scoreboard and turns into fan fiction.

How do you handle USD/SEK in a dividend sheet — lock a rate and sleep, or update it and twitch?
