The world’s most perfect teenager got his very first salary at the beginning of the week.
He immediately put 45 % into his endowment insurance with Montrose – stocks he picked himself after talking it through with his father.
On Wednesday he left for Kraków with his girlfriend. Her parents have a place there.
He knows perfectly well that his father (my husband) is not a morning person. The man has a certain early-morning mood that leaves a lot to be desired.
Still, the phone rang at 7:30 this morning.
When the little man calls that early, the brain goes straight to disaster mode. Before my husband even answered, I had already invented every possible catastrophe.
Turns out our son had, entirely on his own initiative, switched on push notifications in the Montrose app. He had just received an alert about an insider sale and wanted to check whether he should sell the holding as well.
By the time the adrenaline settled, I had aged another five years.
It actually looks like all those years of insisting he must save half of every krona that came his way have turned into a real lifestyle. First stress test passed. Now we wait and see what happens the next time the market gets interesting.
The good news is that he clearly takes his investments seriously.
The less good news: if you want to keep looking young – don’t have children.
Anyone else’s teenager treating their first paycheck like a portfolio manager, or am I the only one aging in real time here? Tell me in the comments – I need the company.
