Old age and treachery will NOT always beat youth and skill

Revolut is a digital bank (a so-called neobank) founded in 2015. Unlike the traditional big banks, they actually ship features that stop fraud in real time.

The other day my phone rang from a Danish number. The caller claimed to be from Revolut and wanted to “verify” a $79 purchase from America. While I was still on the call I opened the Revolut app. Instant red banner: Revolut is not calling you.

That simple (and technically rather clever) check killed the scam on the spot.

I suspect the old banks’ systems are so tangled after decades of patches and mergers that adding something this straightforward is a nightmare. Otherwise they would have done it years ago.

Have you had a similar “your bank is calling” scam? And does your bank even have a way to prove it in the app? Drop it in the comments.
