I launched a live trading bot on 2 September 2026. It actually traded two days: the 2nd and the 3rd.
Then the remote connection fell over. From the 4th through the 11th the account just sat there. Frustrating does not cover it. It was also useful. This is the first time I have ever run a live bot. If the thing had hummed along for months and then the pipe broke, I would have treated the outage like a freak accident. Because it happened in week one, I now file it under “this will happen again.”
Both my husband and my parents now want the same setup. I promised to help — after I have run my own bot for at least one or two months. My husband and my mother will handle outages just fine. My father is a different species. Besides calling me a hundred times a day, he will almost certainly give the bot instructions, then swear under questioning that he did no such thing. Not malice. Just him. I may have overpromised.
The outage was the point
Yesterday was the first clean session after the blackout. The bot ran without choking. It also chose, once more, to sit on the bench and watch.
At the close the trading account was 9,901 SEK plus 100 SEK on the cash/transaction side. Against the original 10,000 that is a gain of one krona — after paying commission three times and FX three times. From the previous close the mark-to-market move was about 210 SEK. That bounce was not heroics. ARCC finished +0.3 percent, COP −0.5 percent, SOFI +1.91 percent, and the krona lost roughly half a percent against the dollar. Currency did more work than the book.
Since purchase, only COP is up on price. The others are still underwater in dollars and get bailed out by the exchange rate. SOFI has been the worst of the three. It never tagged the stop the bot set — luck, given that the bot was offline last week when it would have been nicest to have a working kill switch.
I already wrote about why I started this 10,000 SEK experiment and why I handed the tape to the machine on a Hormuz day. The lesson so far is unglamorous: connectivity is part of the strategy. A perfect model with a dead login is just a spectator. So is a father who cannot leave the keyboard alone.
I hope the pipe stays up this week. If you would also have sat in cash after a week of outages — or refused to clone the setup for family until you had survived a month — say so. I would have too. The bot did.
