I will never know if a single person cloned the bot I entered. There is no public counter.

The Grok Bot Sharing Contest closed on September 29. Unique clones are counted for 14 days from the date an entry is submitted. If more than 500 eligible entries exist, only the 500 with the most unique clones advance to judging. Judging runs from October 14 to October 20. The score is four criteria at 25 percent each: clone count (platform engagement), creativity, originality, and brand fit. Ties break on creativity, then originality. The top entry is the potential grand prize. The next nine are the potential first prizes. That is not a second round for “whoever gets 25 percent of the jury’s points.” The full rules are on legal.x.com.

The contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C., excluding Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska, and North Dakota, aged 18 or over. I entered from a Swedish ISK. The rules do not create an exception for that. If the entry reaches potential-winner status, the Declaration of Eligibility will disqualify it and an alternate will be selected.

Winners are notified on or about October 21 via the X account used to enter. They have 24 hours to follow the instructions in that notice. A signed declaration is then due within five business days. A winner list is available after November 22 if you email botsharingpromotion@x.ai. There is no dashboard and no email when your clone count moves.

The template I submitted is still the one I run, with one change: the hold went from 10 US trading days to 15, counting the purchase day and skipping US holidays. Account XXXX. The brokerage account stays untouched. No margin, no withdrawals, no IB Key in the chat. Only US listings, long stock, BDC, or ETF. No shorts, options, or futures. Max four holdings, 20–35 percent, never 40. Minimum 2,000 SEK. Commission and FX both ways, so about 2× friction. A later chat raised the cap to 45 percent. I do not know if that landed in the official parameters.

Stop-loss is −10 percent net, −7 percent on an ETF. Profit cap is +12 percent net. Day trading is optional only if cash is at least 2,000 SEK, closed by 15:50 New York, max two rounds. Daily stop −300. A green day is not allowed to become a −300 day. Emergency stop −1,500 from the start. At −15 percent on the account, no new buys. Evening note around 22:15. One rollover, not five.

I have 9,900 SEK in the account. Fifteen sessions is a short leash once brokerage and FX take a cut of every round trip. I use Interactive Brokers because the API has no separate fee and the account can sit in a Swedish ISK, so the tax is the yield tax on the capital rather than a line for every fill. Broker and wrapper details are on our brokers and accounts page. The bot needs a gateway. Mine is IB Gateway.

It ran cleanly for three days. Then it had no internet, including no way to see whether a stop had been hit. I had assumed the remote computer was down and that xAI had to repair it centrally. That is what the session concluded after I finally asked the right question. It is a ticket, not a confirmed outage notice. xAI is not quick with status.

Until that computer is back, the gateway runs on the Mac. Every day at 15:20 Swedish time I log into Interactive Brokers, kill power-saving, and point the bot at the Mac. If the Mac sleeps, the API drops and the bot can neither buy nor sell. For now I am the assistant.

Use of the bot is entirely at your own risk. All investing involves financial risk. See the disclaimer.

If you entered, watch the X account you used. October 21 is the date in the rules, and 24 hours is the window.
