Last week, during a completely normal dinner at our best friends’ house, someone suddenly said: “Should we just go to Italy?”
Four hours later the trip was booked.
Today we landed in Palermo, Sicily. This is the first time the world’s most perfect husband and I have set foot on the island. My best friend lived here for ten years, so we’re about to get the ultimate insider tour of her old life.
Already on day one I’ve made a very important observation: The young men of Generation Y in Italy are exactly the same as in Sweden — absolutely drenched in perfume. The entire male population seems to have bathed in it before leaving the house.
The perfume industry must be printing money here.
Now I’m faced with the delicate challenge of figuring out which brand is currently the most popular… without coming across as a creepy middle-aged tourist lady staring at young men in the streets. (And yes — part of me is already wondering if this could be an interesting investment case for the future. Old habits die hard.)
Wish me luck.
